Dr. Joanna Kristeva is the founder and clinical director of Forest Hills DBT Center, LLC. She promotes the belief in a better world built on compassion, unity, security, stability, strength and wellness in all aspects of life and beyond. Kristeva holds the titles: PhD, LCSW and LISW Licensed Independent Clinician.




Dr. Joanna Kristeva specializes in the treatment of personality disorders and she was trained in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy approach to modalities. Her multicultural background helps her to apply person-centered and strength-based treatment modalities. Dr. Kristeva is a New York and Ohio licensed psychotherapist with eleven years of direct clinical experience. She holds a postgraduate degree from New York University and has completed a doctorate of philosophy degree. Kristeva was trained in clinical trauma case-based treatment approach and complicated grief counseling at Columbia University School of Social Work. She is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles and books.
